How To Analyze Your Spa Training Investment

Your spa therapists are not selling your retail products. The same offerings that sit in your display cases and on your tables day after day are literally flying off the shelves at beauty outlets like Space NK, Sephora,  Ulta and Blue Mercury ,both of which provide spa services. Ulta announced just last week that sales are so robust they’re building 100 more stores.

It’s obvious that your customers love purchasing beauty and body products. So the question is,  why are you so reluctant to invest in training that teaches your team how to make retail recommendations and engage with your guests more easily?

We’re at the half year mark for 2016. Have you  generated enough revenue to justify not trying something new?

We are so certain our program will increase your sales that we guarantee a full refund if you are not impressed.

I spoke with a spa director last week who shared with me that in the month of March one of her stylists made $6,444 service and $355 retail. Her sales to service is 5.5% . She generates  a mere $4,260 per year in retail sales.

The director didn’t seem particularly bothered by these  numbers, so I had to assume that this was average for her team. When I told her that the “low earner” at my former spa sold an average of $2,500 per month this didn’t surprise her. The spa wins “best of” every year and is well known for outstanding customer service. As a therapist, my personal retail sales always hovered around $5000/month and I never pushed products. That’s $60,000 per year.

ROI for Increasing Your Retail Selling  Online Training

Without knowing the actual cost of your retail products I’m not going to make claims about how much your revenue will increase. However I can guarantee that if lesson instructions are followed,  your staff will easily double and triple their sales within the first month post training.

Imagine going from $355 to $710 to $1065 to $1,420 in 30 days!

Your top sellers will likely double your revenues the week after training.  And imagine when everyone else begins to match their performance! You will also see an impact to your treatment up-sells because the same engagement concepts are applied.

The great thing is that just one therapist’s sales can pay the cost of training for your entire team within a few weeks!

Ask yourself these questions:

  1. How will my therapists sell more products if no one teaches them?
  2. How are so many other spa managers generating  30% + in retail sales to service?
  3. How much do I stand to lose in customer retention, revenue and employee loyalty by not training my people?
  4. Am I being the best manager that I can be by not training my staff?
