Oprah Said Everyone Has This One Thing In Common
Generating high retail sales is never about selling. It’s about validation. It’s about engagement. Oprah said that the one commonality she’s seen among all her thousands of guests, no matter their place in life or their issues is that “Everyone you meet wants validation. People just want to be seen and heard.”
That’s why engagement is so important. Engagement is the vehicle through which validation happens. It’s how a person knows you’re listening to them. Nodding, leaning forward, listening to understand, asking non-judgemental questions, and repeating back what you think you heard are all ways to engage. The result is usually positive. And a desire for more engagement.
What we are witnessing now across the country, the anger, the angst, the confusion and pain in all of its expression is a direct result of the lack of validation.
Right now, at this point in time, the most important thing we can do is to validate each other. Suspend disbelief; just for a moment. Right now engagement is critical.
No group is more emotionally equipped to do this than we are. When we reopen our spas, let’s do better.
