Celebrate Change
Today I came across a brilliant art collection by Ard Gelinck. @Ardgelinck. He superimposes photos of celebrities when they were young with their current image. He’s done it in such a way that it looks seamless and totally realistic. I couldn’t stop scrolling from picture to picture.
A niggling thought kept tapping at the base of my brain though, something familiar that I couldn’t put my finger on. I decided to leave it and do my morning meditation.
In the middle of my session I realized what had been trying to get through; it was that these photos are more than entertainment. They are a celebration of life. Everyone knows that actors/celebs can be some of the vainest people in the world. And somehow in this time and space, they have allowed themselves to be vulnerable enough to remind us that everything ages and changes and that’s a good thing.
We first saw them when they were new, shiny, not as practiced, not as refined. Every gray hair, every line that they’ve earned represents a commitment to their craft and a life that has been lived. And what struck me most is that in each one of the pictures I found them to be just as beautiful now as they were years ago.
When I think about our spa industry, it strikes me that change is necessary for growth. It may not come when you want it to but it’s still on time. Mindset is everything. Your viewpoint can make the days ahead a living hell, or a springboard for positivity. Either way, it will work itself out. It always does.
